Using the breathing technique is a basic and effective way to enter a meditation practice.
It is effective for bringing the brain waves into an alpha state thereby creating receptivity in the body-mind system.
Let’s begin: Sit in an upright posture. Eyes closed (preferable). Using awareness, bring your attention to the breath as it enters the nostrils. See/feel/imagine the breath moving down into the abdomen where the abdomen will naturally expand with the incoming breath. Now, allow the breath to enter into its exhale as it exits thru the nostrils, or the mouth Continue this movement as you notice you are becoming more at one with the breath, as if your awareness is the breath itself. Before you complete your last movement of several breaths, make a mental note of the response of the body-mind system to the activity of the breath as you have given it direction. When ready, open your eyes if you had kept them closed.
