Of Soul and Spirit

The following comes from Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov?s book, Angels and Other Mysteries of the Tree of Life:

?When I speak of journeying through the universe it is not a question simply of exploring it with rockets and spacecraft. It is a question of using all the means that the Creator has given us in order to study it; of using our physical sense organs, of course, but also and especially, the organs of our spiritual senses, our soul and spirit. This is the only way to meet the Lord ?? (Page 91)

With a simple search on soul and spirit, one will find there are many views on these two words.?Being raised in the Christian tradition, I often found myself repeating the phrase from Psalm 23, ?He restores my soul.?

I remember as I went through troubling times in my 40s, which felt more as a spiritual rite of passage than an outer condition, the following helped me tremendously: ?Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.?

?Don?t you remember how I etched into each piece how much I love you? brought home to me the experience of feeling my soul as He restored it.?

This is how it felt back in December, 1996:

I reflect, yet I do not grieve

for I understand now

the wisdom in the experience

it is to teach me, isn?t it?

so I can feel my soul

when it cries inside

I lovingly embrace my pain now

as I heal from within

for I know there is a way out

and I will take it.

I felt the invitation for restoration deeply in these times of my life and have come to have confidence in some simple Truths that I heard as I was growing up. One of which is ?with God all things are possible.?
